Poem for Today
Empire of the Office Worker
Sometimes, standing in the hallway,
After everyone has left,
That is when I feel the most lonely.
The empty building,
And the hollow, bright lights,
With their four way shadow,
Humming like a chorus of tired servants,
That is my empire.
You carry me in captivity,
Requiring of me this love,
When your heart breaks this time,
I don't think you will cry anymore.

Poem for Today
(I met a small animal in the desert night a few days ago.
It was a lovely little fox, with large ears. We stood together for a moment.)
Meeting in the Sand
For a moment we stand together,
The steady dry wind cracking us,
Crumbling, like my childhood drawings.
Syrup of stars above us,
Let's bathe in the sparkling black.
We move apart,
Trying to find our own ways home.

Meeting in the Sand
Hello desert fox,
I stumble into you,
We meet in the dark by chance,
It makes me want to tell you sorry.
The steady dry wind cracking us,
Crumbling, like my childhood drawings.
Syrup of stars above us,
Let's bathe in the sparkling black.
We move apart,
Trying to find our own ways home.
